What's new at the Centre

Since November 2016 we have had the Medway community payback team and their Supervisor Danny at the centre on occasional Sunday's when we could accomodate them and they have carried out the following fantastic work:

  • Clearing the proposed garden storage shed area of weeds & roots, (behind the refuse bins in the car park). This new garden storage shed has been very kindly funded by Gary Cooke & the KCC with grants of £1500 for the shed and £250 towards the groundwork. (As this area is not level, the community payback teams have concreted in six concrete posts to hold a retaining wall to level the soil ready for the storage shed base).
  • The community payback team have also prepared and painted all the walls, dado rail and skirting in the lounge.
  • Prepared and painted the stage flooring and part of the front of the stage and skirting.
  • Prepared and painted all the hall radiators.
  • Carried out the floor tiling in the ladies toilet.
  • Prepared the grass play area fencing ready for staining.
  • Prepared, scrubbed & sealed the wooden patio.
  • Concreted in fence posts & completely built the fencing along the edge of the old patio, including painting with wood preserver.
  • Prepared and painted with wood preserver the Bar B Q fencing & wooden patio balustrade fencing.
  • Prepared the stage fire exit metal staircase ready for painting.
  • Trimmed back some of the larger shrubs along the edge of the wooden patio.
  • Dug around car park barrier ready for concrete, to level the barrier after dropping.
  • Cleared leaves from the whole centre grounds.
  • Cleaned up Linden Lea garden area.
  • Turned around fencing at the front, left hand side of the main entrance.
  • Renovating the centre chairs & resprayed them – (ongoing).

Other work that has recently been arranged by the centre management:

  • Two heating boilers serviced by Gas safe plumber.
  • Electrical socket installed in loft over toilets by electrician for the new CCTV which is installed & now working.
  • Wifi from Virgin media on order to assist CCTV monitoring and add to the facilities at the centre.
  • Annual children’s play equipment inspected with recommendations of some renewals due to wear & tear.
  • Fascia boards & guttering at front of centre replaced & also ridge tiles on porch roof repaired.
  • New centre main entrance front door on order, (due to be fitted in March). The replacement being a solid wood door & push button lock.
  • Sound speakers to be installed into the side of the stage walls in March.
  • Complete annual NIC electrical test of the whole centre.
  • The KCC have also very kindly made an additional grant of £500 toward the planting scheme at the side of the grassed play area.
  • The Woodland Trust have also very kindly donated 30 saplings (due to arrive in March) also for the planting scheme at the side of the grass play area.
